This is a quick preview of what exactly this project will be about, the steps that will be taken , and the ultimate goal for each week of this project.
For this genius hour my goal is to make a new dish I have never had every week of this project. The process i will be using for this project will consist of me spending the first three days of each week finding different dishes and their ingredients. Day four will be spent finding getting ingredients for the recipe chosen that week. Finally day five will be spent actually making the dish and to show the final result I will upload a picture to my blog. The ultimate goal by the end of each week and the twelve weeks as a whole is to make something delicious and increasing my knowledge of cooking as a whole. An additional goal for this project is to always make something i have never had before. Another goal of mine is to try and increase the difficulty of what i´m cooking each week. For example I want to start with a recipe I know how to create the first week just to ease into it. After the first week i will begin to look for new dishes i haven't had before and see how well i made it. I will also have my mother with me to make sure i don´t burn the house down and to taste the dishes i make so I know how to improve and to see if what i made would return to out table another time as a delicious dinner. I will also have a few dogs to help clean and taste. This sounds silly but if a dog wont eat your dish that´s when you know it may not be the best tasting. madam hatley will be my assistant in this project as you can see she is ready to cook as well.

Hello again and welcome back for another dish from my genus hour project! This week after a trip to New York i got the idea of making a stir fry. Sense a stir fry can be made with a few different ingredients i decided to make a chicken stir fry.
Before we get started as usual i will be going over some history on the stir fry. I will be reviewing the history of stir frying itself as well sense stir fry can be many things. So where was it developed? The sir fry was first developed in china. Its was made as a cooking method that worked efficiently on simple brick stoves. The simple brick stove top had a hole over the fire chamber. The stir fry used a wok which is a round bottom pan to sit over the hole leading t the fire chamber. This design would effectively capture heat from the fire. It works so well that all it took was a small fire to make the wok very, very, hot. Now the stir fry and the wok are some of the fundamental techniques of authentic Chinese cooking. As i stated before the technique of stir frying can be used to make many dishes which include pork buns, prawn dumplings, sweet custard buns, and more. one of the most famous Chinese dishes are a stir fry called Kungpou chicken. So for today i will simply make a chicken stir fry because of the many options i wanted to go with the option that was least likely to go wrong. Now their are many ingredients so to keep it simple i will simply describe the steps in this dish starting with mixing water, corn starch ,chicken broth, soy sauce, honey, olive oil ,and red pepper flakes in a bowl. Next add another table spoon of olive oil and start heating the bowl. Then once heated add chicken, salt, and pepper and continue to heat before adding another table spoon of olive oil.Next add some vegetables and mix them in the bowl or skillet. Finally just add anything else you would like with it bring to a boil for one minute and boom you have a stir fry. |
